About Warren

His likes include original South African comedy, pictures of babies dressed as flowers and speaking about himself in the third person.

Warren Robertson’s biggest talent, across any medium, is making people laugh. This international competition winning comedian has presented radio shows, hosted podcasts and written columns for a variety of magazines and newspapers, as well as brought roof raising hilarity to stages around the country.

He first stepped on a comedy stage in 2006 at the now legendary Melville Underground and was soon headlining it. He spent 2008/2009 in the UK where he won numerous comedy competitions and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The following year he returned to South Africa and was almost immediately nominated at the Comics Choice Awards as the breakthrough comedian of the year for 2011. Since then he has cemented his reputation with fans from a wide-variety of backgrounds, as a smart, playful and fiercely original comedian at clubs, theatres, festivals and corporate events.

His first one man show “Spamily” in 2012, was lauded at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown receiving sell out crowds, and great reviews. His second show, 2015’s “The Great Explorer”, was his first all clean, family-friendly show, and was hailed as being “A smart, engrossing comedy that educates even as it makes you laugh”.

2015 saw him make his television debuts, firstly on comedy panel show “Point of Order”, produced by ZA News, and then, playing Swede Anders Ahlstrom on Mzanzi Magic’s “The Mayor”.

His appearance on Comedy Central in 2013 alongside SA comedy veteran Al Prodgers, saw the latter refer to him as, “The most pyrotechnic mind in South African comedy”, which Warren freely admits made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
